The Physics Students' Society exists to promote the glory of Physics (and Physics students, of course!). It costs only $2 to join ($5 for non-Union members) and membership is open to everyone, not just Physics students.
Our aims are to provide support for Physics students throughout their studies at the University. The PSS provides a network for Physics students in the University to share knowledge and ideas about Physics, and to get to know other people interested in Physics. We also organise Physics-related excursions and activities, including an ongoing project to steal Monash's synchrotron and install it under the South Lawn.
Hello gentleman and ladies of the Physics Students’ Society!
In anticipation of the first semester exams, we will be holding a number of joint ’study sessions’ in which biscuits and textbooks will be served. The first of these will be in room 1006 of the Redmond Barry building, on Monday from 1 o’clock until 3 o’clock. You are welcome to come for as long or short as you like! There is no ’silent study’ rule – this is a chance to prepare for the exams together and help each other out, and let’s face it, talk nerdy and make nerdy friends! To the first years out there, there will be at least three second year students there who will be able to assist with any (well, almost any!) physics problems you might be facing.
The event is free and open to all members of the PSS. New members are most welcome to come and sign up.
- Date: Monday 18th May
- Time: 1.00 PM—3.00 PM
- Venue: 10.06 Redmond Barry (10th floor of the Redmond Barry building)
Hope you can make it! If you can’t make this one, fear not, there will be more.
Welcome to the Physics Students’ Society for 2009! We thought there was no better way to get the year rolling than with a free barbecue for all our members. Details are as follows:
- Date and Time: Monday, 23rd March from 1 PM until 2 PM
- Venue: Physics Courtyard (under the stairs leading to the Physics Podium)
The barbeque is free for all PSS members, and we’ll have sausages, veggie burgers and soft-drinks available, so come along, enjoy a nice lunch and have a chat to other members of the society.
For the students who signed up as members at the inaugural general meeting last year, your memberships have now lapsed as per the Clubs and Societies membership regulations. Membership for the Physics Students’ Society in 2009 is just $2 for Union members and $5 for everyone else. You’re welcome to come and renew your memberships at the BBQ.
See you there!
Welcome to all our new members who joined at the Clubs and Societies fair today! We will be holding a BBQ in a couple of weeks for all our members. Details will be made available soon.
If you haven’t had a chance to see us at the C&S carnival, we’ll be there the whole day tomorrow, Friday 27th Feb. Come along to our table to join the club or buy an official PSS T-shirt. All members joining during O-week will receive a free back issue of Cosmos magazine!
